The Skills and Growth Company delivers a programme of activity to support growth, increase productivity, encourage the creation of new jobs and minimise threats to Cheshire East’s Top Strategic Investors and High Growth SMEs in the science, energy and technology sectors. Activity will focus in two areas:
- Small to medium enterprises that have demonstrated the potential to grow their turn over, head count and profitability by 10% over the next three to five years or have a track record for growth.
- Strategic investors that have a direct impact on the economic performance of the area and employ significant numbers of people.
Activity focuses on face-to-face diagnostic work to understand barriers to growth and effective referrals to the wide range of business support products available. This will include support to secure finance, workforce development, assistance to expand or relocate to new premises, access new markets and invest in research and development. Recognising there are over 18,500 businesses in Cheshire East priority will be given to businesses in high growth and priority sectors and will maximise assistance through national business support programmes and, where appropriate, develop business support products tailored towards the requirements.
