We’re very proud of our pedigree in high quality engineering; in a previous era, this was the home of the Vulcan bomber and Rolls-Royce. Today our manufacturing covers a broad spectrum, from drugs to mass spectrometers and from bullets to luxury cars – but Cheshire East is still the place to be.
With over twice the national average for skilled manufacturing jobs, our expertise covers engineering and technical testing, research and development, electronics, fabricated metals and plastics.
But that’s not our only attraction for global leaders like Siemens, Bentley and Waters Corporation. With a lower population density than the North West average there’s plenty of room to expand for manufacturers and suppliers alike.
Two of our largest sectors are automotive manufacture which accounts for around 4,500 jobs and pharmaceutical manufacturing with over 3,500 jobs and includes AstraZeneca’s Hurdsfield site – the UK’s largest and undergoing a £120 million investment in new drug manufacturing technology.
You couldn’t be better located either to customers and suppliers: the M6 and M56 motorways open up the UK, with London two hours by train and Manchester Airport’s easy access to international markets with flights to over 200 destinations.
